The study on the management capacity of ambidextrous alliances, characterized by the development of interactions with other organizations, has increased in recent years and has become crucial in terms of administration because it allows creating, acquiring and sharing information, resources and knowledge for exploitation (tradition) and exploration (innovation) processes in the leadership process. This article reports on a systematic and narrative review of the literature that seeks to identify the independent, mediating, moderating and dependent variables, as well as the quantitative and qualitative methodologies present in research on ambidextrous alliances. As a result, a greater number of studies with mediating variables were found compared to the number of studies with moderating variables in terms of alliances and / or ambidexterity; It is evident that Europe is the continent where the most research is carried out, while the United States as a country registers the largest number of articles published in this regard. It is concluded that the most widely used mixed method for proposing a model with mediating variables on ambidextrous organizations is achieved through case studies. The types of variables and methodologies used in studies on ambidextrous alliance management capacity for decision making in future research are identified.
